It all makes a lot of sense really. Your scull has some hard bits and it also has some areas that are soft and need greater protection. The Cone Head Helmet caters to those differences in your head. It protects more where you need it.

After running numerous tests it became clear to inventor, Don Morgan, that the standard foam liner in helmets was too hard and did not effectively absorb the force of an impact. So he got designing and after destroying more than Lance Armstrong has ever owned Mr Morgan finally cracked the final design (excuse the pun).

Fix the problem with a great Australian invention calledMedi Drain.

Medi Drain is similar to a trap in a drain that fits directly under the grill. The unique design creates a natural water seal that stops bacteria, odours and pests from entering bathrooms and wet areas through the drains. The internal funnel is constantly covered by liquid and as the water flows through, it rises up and out of the exit holes and into the sewer pipe. The water and inner funnel are always in contact, thereby sealing the drain…… so no more smell, and no more embarrassing moments.

URL shorteners like bit.ly are popular way to share long links over email, IM, microblogging and other contexts. If you are a twitterer then you know how important each charachter is.

Here’s how it works: Sites like bit.ly convert long URLs into short names and perform redirection for the user once the short URL is clicked. This helps avoid URL garbling since it is aesthetically unpleasant and very difficult to remember.

“There are different techniques on how to implement URL shortening. Keys can be generated numerically in what they call “base 36”, assuming 26 letters and 10 numbers from 0 to 9. If a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters are accepted, then the number should be in “base 62”, where there are 26 lowercase letters + 26 uppercase letters, and 10 numbers. A “hash function” or a “random number” can also be generated so that the key sequence is unpredictable. The third option for shortening is that the users can actually propose their own keys.” (Source: ArticleDashboard.com)

But be careful, short URL’s are subject to linkrot.

For an example of short URL’s go to our twitter page

Wiggles is the brainchild (or brain hemridge – you be the judge) of Ruth Regina, a master wig maker whose notoriety in her field spans half a century. Apparently some twenty odd years ago Ruth’s niece, Marlana, asked her to make a wig for her basset houd. One order turned into many, and believe it or not Ruth has made gazillions of the animal wig business. Can you believe it?

Wiggles has gained some amazing media attention over the years, having spots on the Late Show with David Letterman, news channels across the US and more magazine’s then any budding entrepreneur could ever hope for their own product.

Not because we think this idea is amazing, but because of the attention and shear popularity amongst the crazy’s of the world we have to claim this to be:

ANOTHER AMAZING IDEA!…… go figure.

If you have ever tried to set up a virtual private network (VPN) to access a remote computer you will understand the frustions attached to it. But what about when you are on the road or on holidays and you don’t have your computer with you, yet you need to access some files from work or your home server? LogMeIn answers all of your prairs, enabling remote access to your computer from anywhere in the world with internet access.

Here’s how it works: you jump on the net (from any computer) go to the LogMeIn website, enter your log-in details and you are directed to your dashboard. On the dashboard you access any computer in your group. With the free version you can remove control the desktop of your computer enabling you to access files, check emails and just about anything else you would normally do on that remote computer.

The fact that it’s free to use for multiple remote PCs, with reasonable monthly plans if you need more (five computers for $20 per month or $200 per year) makes this remote-access program instantly appealing. The program differs from its competitors in that the application runs in your Web browser.

You must upgrade to take advantage of the file transfer and synchronization abilities, but creative users should be able to find ways around that restriction for small files. Still, for the functionality and the price, LogMeIn is an excellent program.

Within LogMeIn’s list of products is LogMeIn Ignition for IPhone. LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone and iPod touch provides fast, one-click access to your LogMeIn computers, directly from your Apple device. Simply create a LogMeIn account and add the computers you want to access remotely to your account. LogMeIn Ignition for IPhone is not free, but is well worth the $29.99 one-off cost.

Yes, it’s an odd one, but it’s becoming more and more common, and more and more…well…. topical.

What is environmentally sustainable development, or ESD for short? Well, Wikipidia tells us that ESD is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations.

A great example of ESD are these recycled shipping containers which have been transformed into homes. Great idea really. Not only does each container snap together like Lego, they are also easy to transport.

Shipping containers are tough. Built from weathering steel, these building blocks of international trade are designed to withstand stacking, stuffing and strapping and are reused over and over. There are roughly 17 million of these containers floating, riding and flying around the world today.

Eight feet tall, eight feet wide and either 20 or 40 feet long, the containers don’t contain much space, but architects and building designers don’t exactly build within the box.

Helping out the invironment whilst creating a cozy home has impressed us, and that’s why the shipping container home is:

With the recent launch of the Apple Tablet, computer advances are all the rage. Orkin Design have come up with a concept that rolls the laptop, tablet, e-reader and TV into one. When we say “rolls”, we are quite literal about it.

The RollTop computer comes with a flexible OLED display which also handles multitouch. When fully rolled out, it ends up as a 17″ flatscreen display. Folded, it can be used as a 13″ notebook/tablet. A portion of the display is used as a keyboard and the rest as dispay screen.

The device is composed of two parts. The flexible OLED display and a tower. The tower acts as the power supply, USB interface, webcam and speaker system.

The crazy thing about the RollTop concept is that we’re fairly close to actually being able to build it. Samsung has a flexible OLED screen in the works and incorporating touch capabilities wouldn’t be that much of a leap forward.

This device is the ultimate computer-to-go. Just don’t let your wife confuse the RollTop with her yoga mat.

It is really worth your while to watch the animated video of the design. You can find it by following this link.

Alex Tew, is a 21 years entrepreneurial geneous. When faced with the fees associated with going to Uni in England, Alex thought he’d try and make some money – $1million to be exact. By the time you read this post Alex will have grown richer by almost $1,500.

And if that makes you feel a little jelous think about how his feelow uni students at Nottingham University will feel when they learn that each week Alex makes more than $150,000.

“The student’s rags-to-riches story begins on a balmy night in August at Alex’s parents’ home near Cirencester in Wiltshire. It was late and he was contemplating the consequences of finally agreeing to go to university after three years of hopping from lousy job to crazy idea and back again. Alex had been accepted on a business management course at Nottingham (he has nine GCSEs and three A-levels at good grades) but fees and accommodation for the first year alone came to $11,500.

‘To put it bluntly, I was broke and dreading the prospect of running up huge debts as a student’, he says. We are in the students’ union bar at the university and Alex is drinking a Coke. He is a fresh-faced, spiky-haired live wire — nothing like the geek I had expected, the kid whose simple idea has set the internet community alight.

‘I’ve always been an ideas sort of person and I like to brainstorm at night before I go to sleep — it’s my most productive time. So I wrote down ‘How can I become a millionaire before I go to university?’ It was a rather ambitious question, but I went with it.’

‘Then I wrote down the attributes that this idea would need: it had to be simple to understand and to set up; it had to attract a lot of media interest; and it needed a good name. After I wrote down those three things, the idea just popped into my head. I’d like to say it was more dramatic than that, but it wasn’t.’

His thought processes went something like this: what if he set up a website called the Million Dollar Homepage which contained exactly one million pixels (the tiny dots that make up an image on a screen)? What if he then used that page as, in effect, an advertising noticeboard where advertisers — mainly from the US — could buy space at $1 (60p) per pixel?

What if, when you clicked on the group of pixels bought by an advertiser, you were directed to that advertiser’s homepage? And what if you told potential buyers that this is the first page of its kind, that it’s going to become incredibly famous — and that a young British student will be able to go to university as a result of your generosity? ‘I went to sleep and when I woke up I still thought it was a good idea,’ Alex recalls. ‘So over the next few days I set up the website and off it went.

The Million Dollar Homepage captured the imagination of advertisers and has now spawned dozens of copycat sites that will undoubtedly do nowhere near as well as Alex’s. The reason for that is simple: the selling point of his page is that it was the first. In the first four weeks alone, Alex sold more than 300,000 pixels at $1 each.

He sold his first blocks of 100 pixels (the minimum number the eye can read) to his three brothers and some friends. Once sales had topped $1,000, he used the money to pay for a press release that was picked up by the BBC. This, is turn, “went viral” across the internet as person after person e-mailed it to friends around the world.

‘It is brilliant in its simplicity,’ says Professor Martin Binks, director of the Nottingham University Institute for Entrepreneurial Innovation. “I think advertisers have been attracted to it by its novelty and by the curiosity factor. Those that are buying space have realised that the site has become a phenomenon and people are flocking to have a look at it; that makes the advertising good value for money.’(The Times October 14, 2005)

The amount of press this Alex has received is astonishing. Check it his press role here.

For our FUN FRIDAY post we have stumbled across an idea that may have the chiropractor faternity crying foul through loss of business.

For our FUN FRIDAY post we have stumbled across an idea that may have the chiropractor faternity crying foul through loss of business.

The shoes consist of a 7″ Heel and 3″ Platform, and are definately made for dancing. They are sturdy, yet…… well……exotic.

But here’s the twist: these shoes are designed with a slot opening on the clear platform side wall to allow tips to be conveniently inserted through the slots and retrieved from the accessible insole. These stiletto are definately made for the entrepreneurial exotic dancers amongst us by maximizing tips without the risk of putting out your back from constantly bending over to retreive your well earned tips (that still doesn’t take away the need for the old “beeeeeeend…..and snap” move).

The ingenious thing about these shoes is how the inventor clearly marked “Tips” on the side of the shoes – so no one will be confused of their purpose.

We here at AnotherAmazingIdea.com are certain these shoes will revolutionize the exotic dancer scene, and that’s why we have nominated them here as…..

ANOTHER AMAZING IDEA

Can’t the lift just hurry up? Why don’t they just put more than one lift in the shaft? Well, for starters they would crash into each other, which would result in the cables snapping and the lift plummeting 22 storeys at over 100 mph…..the screams, the carnage, the fatalities….. Oh, the pain! The pain of it all!

ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s has solved the problem with their Twin – 2 cabs, 1 shaft, 0 crowds elevator. So no more screams, carnage or fatalities. Yay!

How it works: two cars arranged one above the other can run independently – also at different speeds – in the same shaft to within a set safety distance, which depends on the speeds involved. The cars can move in different directions, which means that they can also move toward each other.

We here at AnotherAmazingIdea.com love ideas that get us to lunch quicker (without killing us of course).
