With the recent launch of the Apple Tablet, computer advances are all the rage. Orkin Design have come up with a concept that rolls the laptop, tablet, e-reader and TV into one. When we say “rolls”, we are quite literal about it.
The RollTop computer comes with a flexible OLED display which also handles multitouch. When fully rolled out, it ends up as a 17″ flatscreen display. Folded, it can be used as a 13″ notebook/tablet. A portion of the display is used as a keyboard and the rest as dispay screen.
The device is composed of two parts. The flexible OLED display and a tower. The tower acts as the power supply, USB interface, webcam and speaker system.
The crazy thing about the RollTop concept is that we’re fairly close to actually being able to build it. Samsung has a flexible OLED screen in the works and incorporating touch capabilities wouldn’t be that much of a leap forward.
This device is the ultimate computer-to-go. Just don’t let your wife confuse the RollTop with her yoga mat.
It is really worth your while to watch the animated video of the design. You can find it by following this link.
